Explanation:

This contract variation costs equates to 2 extra FMA sessions per month for the Northern and Southern bases.

Regulation 72.1 states Contracts and Frameworks agreements may be modified without a new procurement procedure in accordance with this Part in any of the following cases:

(b) States "for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor that have become necessary and were not included in the initial procurement, where a change of contractor”.

(i) States "cannot be made for economic or technical reasons such as requirements of interchangeability or interoperability with existing equipment services or installations procured under the initial procurement or

(ii) States "would cause significant inconvenience or substantial duplication of costs for the contracting authority”.

Provided that any increase in price does not exceed 50 % of the value of the original contract.

Taking into consideration the difference between the original contract value and the new contract value the percentage increase is as follows,

The variation equates to a 22.2 % increase, contract value was 900 000 GBP raised to 1 100 000 GBP = 200 000 GBP / 900 000 GBP x 100 = 22.2 % increase and falls in line with the regulation 72.1 not being over a 50 % increase.
