    • protection of exclusive rights, including intellectual property rights
Explanation:

The intellectual Property Rights of the equipment, hardware and software rests with PaR therefore it is not possible to compete the maintenance requirement in line with Directive 2014/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council. Due to technical reasons to introduce a new supplier would have a disproportionate cost as existing equipment would need to be replaced. This would also require plant to cease operations for a considerable length of time whilst the equipment was replaced therefore temporarily stopping the high Hazard risk reduction activities performed at Sellafield Ltd.
